Unreliable etymology and fringe ancestry claims regarding the Zuwara peoples
[edit]The third footnote reflects the views of Cheikh Anta Diop alone and does not represent the mainstream archaeological and historical consensus, which generally considers Berber-speaking populations indigenous to North Africa rather than descendants of the “Sea Peoples” who invaded Egypt around 1200 BC.
The fourth footnote also provides no evidence that the Berber/Amazigh people of Zuwara are direct descendants of the Rebu tribe associated with the Sea Peoples by W. Cooney.
Additionally, neither source provides an etymological basis for interpreting “Libya” as meaning “the big northern Sea People.” The edit by user “PrimeNoble” was reverted on these grounds. The version by PrimeNoble can be further justified here in this talk section if necessary. Asbunzyan (talk) 14:32, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
