"Undue weight"
[edit]@Rosguill: Which topics are given undue weight in this article? Jarble (talk) 19:17, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- The 2018 scandal and Other examples sections both arbitrarily highlight specific examples without reference to literature that actually examines zoosadism qua zoosadism. The due-ness of their inclusion is not established unless they receive this level of emphasis in texts dedicated to zoosadism as a topic in itself. signed, Rosguill talk 20:05, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
Definition of Zoosadism changed to match reference
[edit]I have changed the definition of Zoosadism from harm to torturing (previously was pain). This change matches the language used in reference #1. Note that the equivalent human term, Sexual_sadism_disorder, uses "involuntary extreme pain, suffering or humiliation".
Some speculation: Since this is a paraphilia, only the appearance of the harmful effect is considered, not the actual impact on the victim. For this reason, humiliation is likely out, as it is, generally speaking, a human understood term. As for extreme pain, I am unsure why this distinction is made. As for suffering, this would imply that Sexual sadism disorder applies to acts that the sadist did not initiate, which tracks as Zoosadism is an action instead of a state of mind. Subanark (talk) 18:10, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- The user who objected to the change from pain to harm has been blocked due to WP:SOCK. Regardless, their point is valid and I will leave the change to from pain/harm to torture. Subanark (talk) 13:34, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Why don't the 2018 leaks have their own page?
[edit]Their is SO MUCH information out there about the 2018 leaks and the individuals exposed in the leaks, Tim Win, Kero the Wolf and Snakething, Woof is notable sure, But so is Snakething, Kero and Tim Win, Tim is literally the definition of depraved, I feel these leaks should have their own page about each individual exposed, hell, there was even a whole documentary about it. Caratrox (talk) 15:00, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Is it is a sufficiently notable event? The coverage here would suggest it was an isolated incident, so the matter is probably better covered in this article. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:13, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
So I noticed the BBC "uncovering" the monkey torture ring was on here...
[edit]I only did the doctor evil finger quotes on uncovering because I'm pretty sure the FBI had their eye on it before that article was published... I started updating the section with the prosecutions over this in the US (I like to check the DOJ website every so often so I can believe that our government is still doing some good from time to time and had spotted these before) but after vomiting in my mouth I realized it probably needs its own article or something because the list of prosecutions has become very extensive. Here's what I wrote so far, it needs to be trimmed down to repeat things a bit less, and TBH the convictions would be better placed in a table at this point with the length of sentence and conviction date. I can't recall the policy on here but I've only explicitly listed people who were charged as part of the general timeline if they were also sentenced or pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing so as to avoid the "guilty even if proven not guilty" attitude the internet has on everything... but like I said after I started realizing how many people were involved I don't know if the timeline format for this is worthwhile.
The DOJ lists the people they've indicted on their pages, anyway, and they give a better disclaimer than I could. The problem is I realized I ran out of time and there are so many creepy monkey nutsack torture lovers being arrested that I can't get the full list (which I think is kinda important to demonstrate the scale of this mess) but anyone wishing to work on this for either a new article or this one (because aside from dogfighting / cockfighting rings this is the biggest mess of this sort I can remember so it might be relevant enough to include here) can start with what I've got below and
The first sentencing I found was back in December of 2023 but there may have been more before that. It looks like most of the convictions happening right now are from the first batches of indictments / arrests and the 11 from 2025.
Monkey torture ring
[edit]In June 2023, the BBC uncovered a global monkey torture ring, where participants would produce and distribute videos of monkeys being hurt and killed.[1]
On June 7th, 2024, Nicholas T. Dryden and Giancarlo Morelli were charged with conspiracy to create and distribute animal crush videos and with distributing animal crush videos. Dryden was also charged with the creation of animal crush videos, as well as with production, distribution and receipt of a visual depiction of the sexual abuse of children because a minor was paid to abuse the monkeys.[2]
(Some decent size group was indicted / charged between these two but I haven't tracked it down yet, I just remember it from reading it a couple of years ago. Many of them have been sentenced either last year or this year)
On May 16th, 2025, 11 more members of the video distribution ring were indicted by a Grand Jury for conspiring with Nicholas T. Dryden — who was previously charged — to produce and distribute videos of monkeys being tortured.[3] Two more members were indicted on June 11th of the same year.[4]
On March 26th, 2026 Joseph G. Buckland of Mount Pleasant, PA was charged with, and on April 1st, 2026 pled guilty to conspiracy to create and distribute animal crush videos. According to documents and statements made during the change of plea hearing on April 1st, Buckland was a "member of several online chat groups and private payment groups dedicated to the creation, distribution, and discussion of sexual and violent videos depicting monkeys being tortured, including baby and adult monkeys having their limbs broken and genitals mutilated." He personally collected money create and distribute torture videos. Sentencing is scheduled for October 29th, 2026. He faces up to 5 years in prison.[5]
On April 15th, 2026, Amanda L. Fourez, a second member of the monkey torture video ring, pled guilty to both distribution and conspiracy to create and distribute these videos. She faces up to 7 years in prison for distribution and 5 years for the conspiracy charges. [6]
On July 21, 2026, Nicholas T. Dryden of Cincinatti, OH was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 3 years supervised release for paying an Indonesian minor to film videos of baby and adolescent monkeys being tortured "in a multitude of ways, including having their genitals burned and cut off."[7] A Shortfall Of Gravitas (talk) 14:48, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
