"used in more than 500 applications" ( "MSN Messenger, Microsoft Office, QuickTime and Apache" ) reference Dr. Dobb's Journal - November 20, 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.22.245.237 (talk) 00:02, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

According to the PS4 page, zlib is implemented in hardware in the PS4 to decode blue ray. This article doesn't mention PS4 or blue ray.Garfieldnate (talk) 22:08, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

When I look at the stats on https://www.osscensus.org/summary-report-public.php zlib is up front (today). It appears that zlib is a very common lib, is this fact worth mentioning? 59.101.72.254 (talk) 10:09, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

As of 1/15/2020, the DEFLATE page states that DEFLATE is a file format, not an algorithm. It also states that most commonly Huffman coding is used, not LZ77. Not sure which article has the most accurate information. Pcraven (talk) 20:44, 15 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

You could always argue how complete the list of "thousands of applications" should be, but mentioning that the PDF format uses it, might be relevant. From the specification document PDF 32000-1:2008 : Section 7.4.4.1 (pg 26) "The Flate method is based on the public-domain zip/deflate compression method".
