Bullet marks are from 1948 not 1967

Despite popular belief the Zion gate was not used in 1967. Two brigades entered the old city, The Jerusalem Brigade through the dung gate and the Paratroopers through the Lion Gate.

As I have edited the bullet holes occur from the unsuccessful battle for the Jerusalem quarter in 1948.

as well as others if you google. The more informed sources generally agree on 1948, there are many one liner sites (probably stolen from wikipedia) which reference 1967.

Also taking a look at the Hebrew site it refers to 1948. I understood the gist but can someone who understands hebrew fluently try and get more out of the hebrew article.--Justcop 01:55, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

It is indeed from 1948 and it was a good correction. The story of the Zion gate in 1948 can be expanded a lot, the Israeli army managed to bomb it after it was blocked and tried to save the Jewish population of the quarter. Amoruso 17:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

The Zion Gate - connects the Armenian Quarter with Mount Zion. It is also been called the "jewish Quarter Gate" because of its proximity to the Jewish Quarter.

It's Arabic Name

The most common, and official name of the gate is Bab an-Nabi Daud (Gate of the Profet David). It is sometimes refered to to Bab Sahyun (Zion Gate), because it position near Mt.Zion. This is what both the Arabic and Hebrew articles say on the subject.

But I have never heard of Bab Harat al-Yahud (Gate of the Jewish Quarter). It is even factually incorrect. The gate leads to the Armenian Quarter not the Jewish one. I have not access to the aledged source. Can someone with access confirm this or I will remove this item. Jokkmokks-Goran (talk) 23:54, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
