It's an excellent, indeed professionally drafted, overview of the underlying theoretical themes and motives involved, at the time, in drafting of the new constitution. The statement even draws on the well-known Bula Matari model. Name of country - use of diæresis

Defining the country as Zaire implies that it should be pronounced as a single syllable, when it fact it was always two - which is why the country's name was Zaïre.

map problem

I just saw that The Map in the site looks like a modern map, so basically I think it’s from 1992+ since the ussr collapsed or it’s the same problem with the page of democratic republic of the Congo Yowazzup8282 (talk) 15:50, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Zaire did outlive the USSR and SFR Yugoslavia, so the map can be correct. The map is not today's as it omits South Sudan. It is presumably a map from the last day of Zaire in 1997, though of course a caption would help all readers. Unknown Temptation (talk) 13:11, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

It's mostly consistent with a 1997 date, except Jordan still has the West Bank, the Saudi Arabian–Iraqi neutral zone still exists, and Yemen is still divided. As it is, the map doesn't actually represent any real time in history. TheLegendofGanon (talk) 00:02, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

Zaire starting in 1965 makes no sense

this article put the life span of Zaire from 1965 to 1997 but from 1965 to 1971 the country was officially called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. this article seems to conflate the Mobutu dictatorship and Zaire but I'm not sure that is the right choice. unless there is a reliable source showing that the country was at least colloquially called Zaire during those six years I think this article's scope should be reduced to only the 1971 to 1997 period and 1965 to 1971 should be considered to be part of the First Congolese Republic.
