    • Comment: Pretty well known incident in the Japanese horse racing community. I'm not sure if it goes against Wikipedia:DYKHOOKBLP though as it does concern a jockey's suspension; even if it is something that Kitamura himself admitted as an old shame.

  • I am proficient in Japanese, and I have verified that the sources back up the claims regarding the desk incident. I added a small clarification in the article about the suspension in terms of number of calendar days vs. race days. Someone quickly glancing over [this] source might be confused since it says a 4 day suspension. This is clarified in [another] source to be 4 race days (開催日).

Overall: Perhaps the hook could be reworded so that it doesn't focus on him knocking down a desk. Something like '... was nicknamed "desk" by fans because his first name and last name were already taken?' It doesn't answer why the fans chose desk over any other nickname, but maybe that's a good thing for piquing readers' interest. AdJHu 21:57, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The nominator has not responded over a month after the review, despite the above ping and a talk page message. Marking this for closure unless someone is willing to adopt it. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:01, 25 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
