The first reference says Yu Pan is a "Senior Software Developer", not among the the named "co-founders" but still suggests he is a "founding member". Russel_Simmons is described as "an early employee", but is also in this picture. Wikipedia:Verifiability suggests this needs more sources. Comlag225 (talk) 00:12, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

PayPal Mafia

[edit]

A Quora posting (not always reliable) has an extensive discussion of 'The PayPal Mafia' and mentions Yu Pan as an associate from UIUC.

Levchin, 2nd from the left, wrote: "January 1999. Probably first PayPal company picture ever taken -- the six founding members, from left to right: Kenny Howery (Peter's assistant, CFO, and general bon vivant), me (Co-founder & CTO), Yu Pan (Senior Software Engineer), Russ Simmons (another one), Luke Nosek (VP of Marketing/Strategy/BizDev), Peter Thiel (Co-founder & CEO). We are FieldLink, Inc; building security software for handheld devices. We all know this can't last."

The reference to Yu Pan (as one of the six original PayPal founders) is near the end of the posting.[1] However, neither the official PayPal website[2] nor the IST at PSU 'History of PayPal' page[3], nor Nick Denton's 'An alternate history according to Elon Musk' (January 2007)[4] mention Yu Pan as a cofounder of PayPal.

He is also the founder of Kiwi Crate, Inc.[5]
