Why the quotes?

@Peter coxhead: The origin of the quotes seems to be Duellman et al (2016). Frost in the ASW6 page for Ranoidea castanea says:

"Litoria" castanea — Duellman, Marion, and Hedges, 2016, Zootaxa, 4104: 39. Incertae sedis within Pelodryadidae. Presumably will ultimately be placed into Ranoidea with other members of the former Litoria aurea group (personal comm. John Bird, 14 May 2016).

As ASW6 use Ranoidea castanea, shouldn't the page be moved there? Or was there some decision to follow the very different classification in Amphibia web for these frogs?  —  Jts1882 | talk  10:44, 8 April 2026 (UTC)'

@Jts1882: I was just fixing the taxobox and noticed some other issues. Following Amphibia web seems the right course to me, but I've no interest in amphibian articles, so I'm happy to leave it to you to sort out. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:31, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

@Peter coxhead: Looking at the history, the taxobox must have been flagged by the change in genus in the taxobox half an hour earlier. The edit also removed the explanation give in the quote I gave above.

The Cyclorana/Litoria/Ranoidea frogs is one area where AmphibiaWeb and ASW have disagreed in a major way and for many years. Now there is a new phylogeny and taxonomic revision, restricting these two genera and creating/resurrect many others (a total of 35). This revision is being followed by ASW6. ASW6 is the project guideline source for amphibia so following the revisions should not be controversial. There are at least 100 species involved. I'll have a look to see if this was a one off edit or part of an effort to revise the whole group of articles.  —  Jts1882 | talk  13:42, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Amphibiaweb have also changed their classification, so both Amphibiaweb and ASW6 are now using the new classification. They weren't when I checked a few months ago. So I'll move the page and update the taxobox.  —  Jts1882 | talk  13:53, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

The page couldn't be moved because of the redirect. The editor who did the update this morning tries to move the page and has requested a move over the redirect to the common name (see here). Presumably the taxobox error occured because the move wasn't successful.  —  Jts1882 | talk  14:03, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
