Wait, "his father was a millionaire"? What currency are we speaking of here? This whole article reads like an excerpt from a children's book. Whodhellknew 04:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Whodhellknew - I was also struck by the word "millionaire" :-) Fwiw, I found the canonical source for this in the Pali canon (although it might also be available in other early Buddhist texts). It's in the Vinaya so it's not something Western layfolk (like myself) are familiar with (or perhaps I am only highlighting my own very specific ignorance here). Here's a link to the Pali source at Kd 7.1.0, translated by Bhikkhu Brahmali, via SuttaCentral: https://suttacentral.net/pli-tv-kd1/en/brahmali#pli-tv-kd1:7.1.0 . I'll begin to update the article to reflect this source as well as an account by Thich Nhat Hanh (Chapter 23 of "Old Path White Clouds) shortly. I'm regretably really rusty on WP tags so my edits will be minor-ish and simple-minded. Hopefully though, they will move things in the right direction. Thanks for your post here.
