See WP:NAMECHANGES and WP:COMMONNAME, this article is likely to remain at the current title whilst the name change occurs in the public. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:04, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

At the same time though, we tend to use names for stadiums that don't reflect naming rights - Wellington Regional Stadium instead of Sky Stadium, Lang Park instead of Suncorp Stadium, and Rugby League Park instead of whatever the hell that stadium is known by this year. Renaming to Stadium Taranaki would be consistent with this. Turnagra (talk) 18:16, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

This is a little bit different however, according to the article: 'The stadium is a personal legacy of the late Noel Yarrow, a pioneering Taranaki baker and businessman, and active philanthropist. Noel was a passionate rugby supporter, and the major grandstand overlooking the field's western sideline is a tribute to his support.' Although Yarrow is a business there is more of a connection than simply corporate advertising so I'd say it is best to wait for the name change to have time to have fully occurred.

The business in question is a small one and searching for Yarrow Taranaki brings up the stadium before the business. Traumnovelle (talk) 18:34, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Strong oppose. For above mentioned policy reasons. I am referencing this Article, which summarizes the naming rights expiration talked about above. On a personal insight, I agree with @Turnagra, people routinely refer to landmarks and roads, by their old names, even decades after name changes.

I do recommend adding a hatnote to the article.

I misspoke in my prior comment. It wouldn't be a hatnote.

It would be noting the name change in the lead and possibly in the short description template. Something like, "Stadium located in New Zealand, currently renamed Stadium Taranaki." This can be expanded in a new section, titled Renaming, which can summarize those articles in 2-3 paragraphs.

Plus we can come to consensus that this topic should be revisited in the future, when either a new name is decided or there is more certainty on the current name's permanence.
