[edit]Would it be correct to say Yaren is the de-facto capital town of Naura? Since it's the largest city, often cited as the capital and some of the most important buildings are situated there. 88.211.132.72 21:13, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Yaren District → Yaren – This page is about the de facto capital of a sovereign country, so it should be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the title Yaren. WikiNav shows that, in July 2025, 100% of clicks from the Yaren disambiguation page went to Yaren District. Reliable sources like BBC, United Nations, and The Guardian refer to it as Yaren instead of Yaren District, and the article's lead and infobox already use Yaren instead of Yaren District as the preferred name. Yaren should accordingly be moved to Yaren (disambiguation). BanjoZebra (talk) 22:49, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- Support. The place is often called Yaren, and pageviews indicate a WP:primary topic. - Station1 (talk) 17:41, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Yaren → Yaren district – would be nice if we could have a discussion that involves more than just 1 supporter. I'd say, keep the Yaren (disambiguation) page a disambiguation, and redirect Yaren here. If not, move the other districts too. Like Nibok district to Nibok. Jq talk 💬 contributions 17:57, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Comment/question: The nominator has not clearly expressed a reason why this page should be renamed. What is the reason this page should be moved to a longer, less WP:CONCISE title? — BarrelProof (talk) 18:20, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- to match with other districts. i'm fine if this doesn't get moved as long as all other primary topic nauru districts are just the name. Jq talk 💬 contributions 19:23, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Perhaps the other ones should be moved, given the articles as written (like Nibok linked above) use just the name in the text. CMD (talk) 00:56, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- It looks like most or all of these were moved to the longer titles in 2008, without discussion, by now-blocked sockpuppet TopoCode. I haven't checked each one but they could probably be moved back. Station1 (talk) 09:44, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Leaning opposed. It seems like the common name for this place is simply "Yaren", and the proposer doesn't even support their own proposal. See also the closely related ongoing discussion at Talk:Ewa District, Nauru#Requested move 7 January 2026. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:51, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. WP:CONCISE, and the word district is very often not used in prose anyway. If other districts can be moved to such a simpler title, they also should be. — Amakuru (talk) 10:49, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
