About the exact pronunciation of her name, I made an inquiry to the Museum of Modern Aomori Literature. Literally 八穂 is pronounced Yaho, but the Museum's answer was that Sachiko Sato, Kitabatake's personal friend and the author of 北畠八穂の物語 (北の街社, 2005.ISBN4873731437), testifies that Kitabatake called herself Yao. --Jonokuchi16:16, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
