Private life
[edit]Is he married? What "makes him tick"? What motivates him? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wythy (talk • contribs) 20:15, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Forwent early early Google stock to keep teens happily in New Jersey instead of forcing them into the cultural wasteland of California and to (unsuccessfully) maintain a focus on pure research... Changed his name to appear more like misspelled Chinese than French/Brettish... so... perversity? risk avoidance? humor? — LlywelynII 19:57, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
Statement unsupported by source
[edit]First words of the article: Yann André LeCun, referring to this source, in which his name is spelled Le Cun. This is because his name was not only "originally spelled" that way, it still is, LeCun is how he spells it in the USA for convenience, as he explained on his website (which is down for me right now). This may be reason enough to keep the current article title, but originally spelled doesn’t seem right to me, nor does using a source mentioning Le Cun to support a statement that reads LeCun. Galactica debacle
[edit]LeCun was involved in Meta's Galactica AI debacle, which appeared in public for only 3 days. Galactica was supposed to generate scientific papers because that was what it was trained on, but it readily produced bullshit.

Paid editor for Logical Intelligence (disclosed on my user page). Requesting
this replace the current Logical Intelligence sentence, as its own subsection
after AMI Labs:
"In January 2026, LeCun joined the board of the AI company
Logical Intelligence and became chair of its technical research board. The
company develops energy-based reasoning models, an architecture that builds
on ideas LeCun proposed two decades earlier, and has said it intends to work
closely with AMI Labs."
