The population number needs updating. The German Wikipedia article says around 2,000; a DW video implies that it is now even much lower. Uzbekistan: Uranium Mining Town Draws Tashkent Glitterati | Eurasianet Did Uzb. have a census in 2020? If not, can we use the Eurasianet number? For the entire district, this German site (Yangiobod (District, Uzbekistan) - Population Statistics, Charts, Map and Location (citypopulation.de)) quotes an Uzb. government source: ~29,000.
