I found this page because I was looking for information about the release history for this, as I've been using it since the early 90s. It was certainly quite notable at the time I started using it, and while it has become pretty obscure now, being the top image viewer for X in the 90s certainly seems notable to me.

Also, on the github page linked, it now has new releases up to version 5.2.

There is a part of the article which says and I quote, "Bradley was unable to negotiate the LZW patent licence necessary for encoding the then-popular GIF format." This implies that GIF files aren't popular in the time of the writing for this article. This is misleading because GIFs are very popular as of Summer 2026. We should change this.
