I just noticed that the external link is broken. A quick Google didn't find a suitable replacement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.149.194.156 (talk) 22:25, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Possible Expansion

Wrong size. Really wrong size.

[edit]

Seemingly everywhere on the web says that Xinghai Square is 45000m2. Yet it's an oval 500m x ~1000m. (Check out a map. Google maps even. I was standing on it this morning, and it really is that big.) There's an order of magnitude error here. I have no idea where this 4.5 ha figure originally came from. 159.226.159.114 (talk) 08:25, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Date discrepancies in the Xinghai Square article

[edit]

Section: History / Construction Background Issue: The article currently reads:

July 1, 1997: Xinghai Square renovation project begins

June 30, 1997: Xinghai Square project completed and opened to the public

These two dates are logically inconsistent (the completion date is before the start date). I suggest verifying and correcting the "June 30, 1997" date to most likely 1998 or 1999 (or specify the specific year source). Recommended Actions:

Check the original reference material (Dalian Municipal Government archives or local media reports).

If the error is confirmed, correct the completion date to a reasonable date (e.g., after 1998).

Or add the following: "The project was completed in phases, with the first phase opening on June 30, 1997."

🔍 If more rigorous verification is required, you can add the following: The actual completion date of Dalian Xinghai Square is often reported as starting in the summer of 1997, with completion in 1998 or later.

Hong Kong Handover Commemoration projects typically take several months to complete and are unlikely to be completed in a single day.

If you would like me to help you find more reliable historical data to support the correction, I would be happy to do so! After all, historical truth deserves to be accurately recorded. 🕵️♂️📚

I wish you a day filled with the detective thrill of uncovering contradictions and the satisfaction of solving problems! 178.223.168.56 (talk) 20:26, 22 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
