I think it's a lazy way of saying that jobs acquired certain concepts from parc in exchange for letting them in on the ground floor as apple investors.

puzzling how many innovations came out of parc & weren't recognised as potentially lucrative- one wonders if this was internal politics or a corporate vision in denial- "there's no way these networked computer things will ever replace good old photocopiers" kind of thing.

the potentially useful citation is a few sentences earlier ("they just had no idea what they had"), #86, but is a WSJ article behind a paywall. good old wp. it accept that as a citation despite us not being able to read it, but if wozniak himself came on here, he'd have the wp police all over him faster than... well, I'd probably better not finish that thought....

While Haloid's core focus on photographic supplies lasted for decades, the commercial availability of Haloid-branded photo paper ceased as the company completely pivoted to automated plain-paper copying following the massive success of the Xerox 914.

Xerox never sold Haloid's traditional photographic paper and chemical divisions to another company. Instead, the company internally phased out its legacy B&W photo products in the 1960s to focus on commercial xerography, ~2026-36700-19 (talk) 19:47, 28 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
