Request to update year in Infobox

[edit]

Hi editors, I'm TSXero and I'm requesting another edit to the Infobox. I'm new to the Wikipedia process and am contributing as a COI editor for Xero so if there is anything I can improve on, please let me know. The infobox states (2024) can we please change all of (2024) mentions in the infobox to this year (2025)?

Revenue Increase NZ$2.103 billion [1] (2024) Operating income Increase NZ$362.6 million[1] (2024) Net income Increase NZ$227.8 million[1] (2024) Total assets Increase NZ$4.463 billion[1] (2024) Total equity Increase NZ$2.196 billion[1] (2024) Number of employees 4,610[1] (2024)

The Annual Report is already a source as linked by another editor but the year just needs to be updated. Thanks in advance! TSXero (talk) 04:57, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Dahawk04 (talk) 20:14, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Dahawk04! I've implemented those changes. TSXero (talk) 04:39, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request to add to Funding section

[edit]

Hi editors, I'm @TSXero and I have a conflict of interest so I can’t make any edit myself. I'm new to Wikipedia but am wanting to continue @JT at Xero's work to ensure the page is accurate. I'm proposing an update to the Funding section of this article to include information about convertible notes issued in 2020 and 2024.

  • Please insert the following sentence as the last sentence of the Funding section:
In December 2020, Xero issued US$700 million of convertible notes, scheduled to mature in December 2025.[1] In June 2024, Xero made a new convertible notes offering of US$925 million. In conjunction with the settlement of the new notes, Xero substantially repurchased the notes issued in 2020. [2][3][4]

I've removed it per NOT and POV. In general, the content seems inappropriate for an encyclopedia article on Xero. --Hipal (talk) 19:03, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Hipal, thanks for your comment. As I'm new to Wikipedia editing I'm slightly confused on how it is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article on Xero as the edits I suggested are neutral in tone. Can you please entail how this is different to the previous edits made in the **Funding** section? I'm here to update the Xero Wikipedia as needed for the public, ensuring it is up to date and factual. However as I do have a conflict of interest, I am unable to make the edits myself. I would be interested to know your thoughts as @Encoded agreed to the edits. Thanks TSXero (talk) 23:31, 14 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've only skimmed previous edits, but it appears there are similar problems across this article.
The references are poor and promotional in nature. Wikipedia is not a venue for public relations per WP:NOTNEWS and WP:PROMO.
If there are reliable, independent sources explaining why the notes were issued, their importance, etc., then content based upon those sources would probably be encyclopedic and deserve mention.
If I'm overlooking something (I'm unable to fully access the first ref and assuming it is similar to the other three), let me know. --Hipal (talk) 00:26, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the explanation @Hipal. I'll keep working on updating the Xero page to ensure the references are neutral and reliable in future. TSXero (talk) 01:23, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Looking a bit deeper, the cleanup around the AfD did not fully address the NOT/POV problems, and the article built upon those problems since rather than properly addressing them. Basically, the article was a public relations piece, got some simple cleanup, and has backtracked towards what it was before. --Hipal (talk) 17:28, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your feedback @Hipal - that was before my time of working for Xero so I'm not fully aware of this page's Wikipedia history. I was wondering if you can share a good example of a company Wikipedia page that is neutral in tone and not a public relations piece so that I may be able to get a better understanding of what edits I should make in future? TSXero (talk) 22:34, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
No exemplar company articles come to mind. I'd ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Business. --Hipal (talk) 23:06, 15 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
