small correction in 5600 series
[edit]in the process of doing some research on cpu upgrades, i found a thread discussing the X5679, it's a special CPU made on contract for HP for Z800 workstations, and has a deliberately lowered memory bus to save costs. which is strange because every other hex-core xeon in that generation has a 1333 memory bus. lenovo staff talking about it here - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkStation/Xeon-x5679/td-p/627741/page/2
Etymology of Xeon

E5-2600 & D-1500 Missing for Broadwell.
[edit]The E5-2600 and D-1500 Broadwell product lines are missing, but they were much more significant than the very small E3 Broadwell release for the 1150 socket; I'm almost certain that the E3 Broadwell release only went to systems integrators. Beeslouise (talk) 03:26, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
Skylake-W/SP missing from main body of article, Coffee Lake and Comet Lake missing from Overview table
[edit]The overview section's table correctly lists for 1 or 2 sockets, "Skylake-W/SP (Bronze and Silver) 4-28 Jun 2017" and for 4 or 8 sockets, "Skylake-SP (Gold and Platinum) 4-28 Jul 2017". However, there is no section for these in the main body of the article.
After the section "Skylake-based Xeon E3-12xx v5 series 'Skylake-S'", which matches an entry in the table, the next section is entitled: "Kaby Lake-based Xeon", which matches the next entry in the table.
The section after that: "Coffee Lake-based Xeon" has two sub-sections, each of which I guess should have its own entry in the Overview table - a line, with an entry just for the "1 to 2 socket" column, since all these Xeons are for single-socket systems.
I think the next section should be for the devices referred to by the entry "Skylake-W/SP (Bronze and Silver) 4-28 Jun 2017" and Skylake-SP (Gold and Platinum) 4-28 Jul 2017".
However, the next section is titled "Comet Lake-based Xeon", with just a link to another page where the only Xeons listed are these relatively obscure 6, 8 and 10 core CPUs for single socket systems, which seem to be ECC supporting versions (with unregistered DIMMs) of desktop CPUs. I guess this should have its own entry in the Overview table.
The next section is "Cascade Lake-based Xeon". This refers to the second and final set of CPUs which use the LGA3647 sockets.
So I think that there should be a section before this, and after the "Comet Lake-based Xeon" section, for the first set of CPUs which use the LGA3647 socket. I am wary of making such changes to this complex article, but if no-one else sorts this out after a few months, I will attempt it myself, ideally with any suggestions for how to do better than what I described here. I suspect that if I looked further I would find other things which don't look right, such as the order of items in the Overview table and of the sections here ideally matching, to some extent perhaps better than they do at present, the sections of the master list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors .
