Body length

Just to compare, their principal measurment, length I guess or height if you prefer, what was it?

The article states they were 1.7 to 1.8 meters long, but I agree it is not entirely clear what is meant by this statement. I think, or suspect, it refers to the body length (not height), excluding the tail. At least, this definition of 'length' is used in most similar articles - lion and tiger, for example.
