Draft is about a species, not a corporation

[edit]

@Bobby Cohn: The article subject is a species, not a corporation, so your comment does not make sense. Paradoctor (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Paradoctor, it was a pro forma template ({{compsays}}) but you are absolutely correct. I have addressed the specifics with this edit.
Courtesy ping to the original author @Jcrudgington: please note the updated nomenclature in my AFC comment. This doesn't change the substance of the advice or the links provided, Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) addresses both corporations and products, "This page is to help determine whether an organization (commercial or otherwise), or any of its products and services, is a valid subject" (emphasis mine).
Another user has also since addressed the TM issues, but the crux of the issue is the lead of the comment "This draft is written from the viewpoint of the company". Please also make sure to note and respond to the notice on your talk page. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 15:01, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Umm, the article subject is not a product. It is a naturally occuring organism, and as such not patentable. You are talking about solein. But solein is also naturally occuring, so it also is neither patentable nor a commercial product. The relevant notability guideline is WP:NSPECIES.
As regards the viewpoint, that is a job for WP:NPOV.
I note that Solar Foods § Solein exists, so this draft should retain the biologically relevant bits, and only a short mention of the commercial use in line with WP:DUE. Paradoctor (talk) 15:57, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the title of the draft is Xanthobacter sp. SoF1 and if that were the focus of the draft then you are correct with NSPECIES, but that is a distinction without a difference when the focus of the draft is on the product aspects of it in regard to commercialization by a specific corporation and I can find more similarities between this draft and other G11 candidates than I can with an article in Category:Hyphomicrobiales. As long as WP:NSPECIES is satisfied, this is a valid draft, and the remaining concerns can be adressed by editing along the lines outlined in my previous comment. If not, it will get declined. 🤷 Paradoctor (talk) 17:22, 27 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
