right-button context menus

[edit]

The article is currently having a debate with itself about who had the first implementation of a right-button floating menu. The brain cells are dim, but wasn't that also a feature of SunView that came forward into XView?--NapoliRoma (talk) 22:14, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I fixed that in the additions I made to the page.

additions to the page necessary

[edit]

Although I made the most important additions, there are some other things missing which ought to be stated more clearly/extensively. Eg. the implicit connection OpenWindows→XView→OPEN LOOK/OpenLook→open-source XView, and the fact that XView was, more or less, a predecessor to the Common Desktop Environment (CDE) which was based on the less capable, but more widely available Motif toolkit and Mwm window manager. Also, one or the other screenshot and a corrected layer map showing the original XView layout would be nice (don't have them, or I would have added them).
