[edit]

Removed the marketing speak, they should be at Anti-aging_cream or similar article.

However, some non-invasive treatments (like Botox) can offer significant results in the short-term. Some chemicals commonly used in anti-aging creams, such as Retin-A have been shown to have some effect on skin regeneration and collagen rebuilding.

Replenishing the skin's natural oils, for example by using Lanolin, goes a long way to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and it also prevents fine lines from becoming fully fledged wrinkles too quickly. Care should be taken not to over-expose the skin to sun, which robs the skin of it's natural oils.

Gamma linoleic acid contributes to the skin's repair process. The combination of natural oils in Repcillin is high in gamma linoleic acid and fully penetrates the skin, without clogging the pores, giving the appearance of reducing wrinkles and facilitating skin repair at the same time. Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.76.25.174 (talk) 00:12, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removed two external links, both of which were promotional for companies/clinics selling the sort of anti-wrinkle treatment that the article notes generally don't work. Vicki Rosenzweig 02:09, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Image

The image in this article looks a little too much like a dead finger, looks to white. I know it's just a trick of the light, but could someone find a more sutible/realistic image?

  • Second image possible vandalism

The second image subtitle says the picture will show dogs, but there is a man grinning on the photo. Vandalism or wrong subtitle?

Pruney fingers when very cold

[edit]

I've noticed when I'm outside during very cold weather (<10°F), my fingers look as if I've taken a long bath. The theory of vasoconstriction seems to be valid. Should this example be added to the pruney fingers subtopic? --68.103.143.23 (talk) 05:13, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Exercise

[edit]

Does long-term regular exercise and long-term intensive exercise increase, decrease or have no effect on the rate at which wrinkles appear on skin as people age? Wsmss (talk) 10:46, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article needs work

[edit]

So the whole "Aging wrinkles" section is nothing but treatments for wrinkles and should be re-named as such. Meanwhile, an actual section on aging wrinkles and the process and causes of them should be expanded. As it stands the article has no information on aging wrinkles except the lead.72.89.142.128 (talk) 00:25, 18 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I dont know what the name for this type of wrinkle is, but its about skin contraction, and it occurs at the aureolas (this image shows both phases)

I dont know if we want this image here, but maybe it will spur research into what its called.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:49, 16 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Article Proposal

[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrinkle

I would improve this article by: adding to the contents, explain about what wrinkles are, how they might be formed and when, explain what to do if you have them or began to receive them, what are the advantages and disadvantages of having them, and what could you do to prevent having them.

In the Causes Aging Wrinkles section, I would put "Accumulation of the long collagen fiber tends to make the skin lose and stiff which cause the skin fold to appear.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Brittany Floyd (talkcontribs) 18:28, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Take out the section with Animals Aging. It doesn't seem to be that much important. Preceding unsigned comment added by Brittany Floyd (talkcontribs) 18:32, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Treatments for Aging Wrinkles section needs to not only be about what the treatments are and when or how they was approved but more so of what they can do to provide better treatments for the aging. What do the treatments have in them? Preceding unsigned comment added by Brittany Floyd (talkcontribs) 18:35, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wrinkles caused by raising your eyebrows?

[edit]

Isn't this the most obvious one? Why's it not listed? There is no health condition or phenomena caused by it.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Marccarran (talkcontribs) 21:09, 7 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Proposed addition: Sleep position and pillowcase friction as mechanical contributors to wrinkles

[edit]

Proposed addition: Sleep position and pillowcase friction as mechanical contributors to wrinkles

Repetitive mechanical compression and shear stress during sleep can contribute to the formation of facial wrinkles. Side or prone sleeping positions press the face against the pillow for prolonged periods, creating temporary sleep creases that may become permanent over time as skin elasticity declines with age.<ref>{{cite journal |last1=Poljsak |first1=Borut |last2=Godic |first2=Aleksandra |last3=Lampe |first3=Tina |last4=Dahmane |first4=Raja |title=The influence of the sleeping on the formation of facial wrinkles |journal=Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy |date=2012 |volume=14 |issue=3 |pages=133–138 |doi=10.3109/14764172.2012.685478 |pmid=22452579}}</ref><ref>{{cite journal |last1=Sarifakioglu |first1=Nedim |last2=Terzioglu |first2=Ahmet |last3=Ates |first3=Levent |last4=Aslan |first4=Gürcan |title=A new phenomenon: "sleep lines" on the face |journal=Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery |date=2004 |volume=38 |issue=4 |pages=244–247 |doi=10.1080/02844310410029193 |pmid=15370706}}</ref>

The coefficient of friction between the skin and pillowcase fabric influences the degree of shear stress experienced during sleep. Rougher materials increase drag and tugging, potentially exacerbating crease formation. Laboratory testing using the ASTM D1894 standard has demonstrated that certain engineered textiles can achieve very low coefficients of friction—as low as an average of 0.05 (static) and 0.07 (kinetic) in multi-layer fabric systems—significantly reducing mechanical stress compared to traditional cotton or silk.<ref>TexTest Laboratories Report #10768, 24 July 2020 (independent ISO 9001:2008 registered laboratory testing per ASTM D1894). Available at: [insert public link to hosted PDF if you upload it to a neutral site]</ref> Such low-friction surfaces may help mitigate sleep-induced wrinkles by allowing greater glide and minimizing skin deformation, though larger clinical studies are needed to confirm long-term efficacy.<ref>{{cite journal |last1=Gerhardt |first1=L.C. |last2=Lenz |first2=A. |last3=Spencer |first3=N.D. |last4=Münzer |first4=T. |last5=Derler |first5=S. |title=Skin-textile friction and skin elasticity in young and aged persons |journal=Skin Research and Technology |date=2009 |volume=15 |issue=3 |pages=288–298 |doi=10.1111/j.1600-0846.2009.00363.x |pmid=19626787}}</ref> stan batiste (talk) 19:07, 28 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
