Aug 2010 - there STILL needs to be a disambiguation page to distinguish from the Taito_Corporation video game console... which in itself needs more research. "In 1992, Taito announced a CD-ROM-based console system named WOWOW[circular link to this article], that would have allowed people to play near-exact ports of Taito's arcades (...Space Invaders?...) as well as download games from a satellite (...). It was named after the Japanese television station WOWOW and would have utilized its stations to download games."

The mythical Taito Console might be interesting to video-game centric wikipedians as it's "alluded to" by http://nesplayer.com/captain_n/chaptereight.htm ... which might also be useful as a reference for a few other stray video-game articles.

Back to context of the current article: Does WOWOW the Japanese TV station/service still exist? The use of "was" in the first sentence needs checked - people who skim text will assume this entity longer exists or has been acquired/merged. I assume WOWOW does still exist since a "still accessible" web-page is listed in the reference - or at least hopefully it's not just a cyber-squatter spewing a web-page with glyphs I can't read. "WOWOW (株式会社WOWOW（ワウワウ、WOWOW Inc.) ) is the first private satellite broadcasting and pay TV station in Japan"

History

I think there was a period of time in the 90's when WOWOW almost went bankrupt. These days it seems to have regained financial stability. It might be nice for the article to include some of this history. --Westwind273 (talk) 03:32, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
