1948 Saltsjobaden Interzonal

[edit]

How were the players selected for this tournament? It seems the selection process was much less formalised than the later zonal/interzonal system. Was it even called an "interzonal" at the time? MaxBrowne (talk) 05:18, 22 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

[edit]

I believe the Interzonal article (Interzonal tournament, Saltsjöbaden 1948) should be merged to this one because:

  • about 50% of the Interzonal article (the table) is in this article anyway.
  • this article is short enough, that the page or so of text from the Interzonal article won't make it too long
  • The articles disagree with each other because they don't use the same sources. Merging them will consolidate all the information in one place.
  • As far as I can see, no other world chess championship cycle article has a separate WP article on its Interzonal.
  • The interzonal article would become a redirect, so we can always retrieve it if needs be.

I agree wholeheartedly. dllu (talk) 09:59, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
There was one objection one sort-of-objection at at Articles related to world championship cycles (April 2018 if it gets archived). I don't care either way so I've removed the merger template. Adpete (talk) 05:49, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
