Issue with claim on capitalism and public education
[edit]The sentence “capitalism, an economic system in full support of public education” seems ideologically biased and historically questionable. Capitalism has often opposed public goods when they don't align with market logic, and public education historically arose through struggle and compromise. This wording may need a neutrality tag or rephrasing. Bruhbans (talk) 19:41, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Bruhbans: Thanks for pointing this out. While the source (Oxford U. Press) is reliable, to make such a sweeping & controversial statement in Wikipedia's own voice based only on a single source is undue. I've changed it to "capitalism, an economic system more supportive of public education" as the statement that capitalism supports public schools more than feudalism is uncontroversial, and is supported by any source that supports the other, broader claim.
