[edit]Do the images add anything to this article? They're uncaptioned and appear to have little illustrative value except that they portray opposite-sex individuals within a working environment. Personal comment
[edit]My husband has several female friends at work (he is a teacher). He even refers to one friend as his "office wife"-- they discuss personal issues, bring each other treats and little gifts, etc. He sees nothing wrong with this relationship, but has made it clear that he alone will be her friend, that is, their friendship is OUTSIDE of our marriage. Just because there is no sex (he is physically unattracted to her), doesn't mean that it is any less painful. It belittles the institution and sanctity of marriage, and has negatively impacted my self esteem. Regional idiom ?
[edit]It would be good to know whether the phrase is specific to the US or not. Discussing it with random people online came up with an instance of it apparently being used by the BBC, but all of the references here are US and I'd never come across it before (Australia). So should this be listed as a US slang or colloquial expression? CheMonro (talk) 05:50, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
