"Problems with WZC" section
[edit]I removed this section, due to it not being from a reliable source: Confronting WZC Troubleshooting - Wi-Fi Planet Forums:
- Due to the way that WZC is designed, there are several problems that may push some users to abandon it in favor of another wireless configuration utility.
- 1. Since WZC uses the SSID of a given network to determine whether or not to connect, it will not distinguish between two different networks, and may connect to a network other than the one that the user intended.
- 2. Even if a user signifies one of two networks with the same SSID as a preferred network, the WZC may connect to the other network if the preferred network does not have SSID broadcasting enabled.
- 3. If you do not use 802.1X encryption on your network, the WZC may interrupt wireless service in an attempt to authenticate security.
While this information seems to be correct, we need to locate a better source for it before including it in the article. -/- Warren 16:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Solution
[edit]I discovered the 'lag every 60 seconds' happening on my Vista machine, and desperately searched for workaround, as the manufacturer of my wireless device (MSI US54G) doesn't bother to provide a Vista driver+software package. After googling and reading a bit, I found mention of the tool WLAN Optimizer. It is a very small and recent piece of software designed to counter this very problem.
