This is not, IMO, a reason to fail the DYK or anything: yet the phrase "Groover showed at the Celebration" is incomprehensible to somebody not well-versed in horse lore (such as myself) and I am wondering if it could be reworded somehow. Cheers, Vanamonde (talk) 16:16, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
The Celebration is linked, and anybody who doesn't know what it is can read the article about it and find out. Showed simply means that he rode that horse in the actual competitive part of the horse show (at large shows like that, they'll often "exhibit" horses that are old and retired long ago, to give people an opportunity to see a famous animal, but it isn't actually competing). "Showed" isn't unique to horses; there are dog shows, cat shows, sheep shows, guinea pig shows, etc. There are even shows for non-living things, like quilts or paintings. I always use "showed" on show horse articles because of the incredible number of people who seem to think that every horse in the world is a racehorse, and that's all people do with them.
