From Retrospect Drag Racing History by K. Scott Teeters: The ten year old "Winged Express" came to its end at US131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan. As Willie was blasting across the finish line, the front tire hit a cinder block that was holding a timing light. The car flipped up into the air & crashed with the chute wrapped around Willie's head. The only damage was a broken wing & a small tear in the chassis tubing. While at the repair shop the car was stolen & was never found. Two weeks later, Al & Willie were racing a new longer chassis "Winged Express". Zeriouslly2 (talk) 20:58, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
