Was his name ever April Ellison?
[edit]When I re wrote the page due to a copyright issue I only did a cursory investigation. It is possible the name he used as a slave was not Ellison. Geo8rge (talk) 21:42, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
slave owner
[edit]It should be mentioned in the first paragraph that he was a slave owner. Seems to be the major reason that he should have a page, "A freed Negro that owned over a hundered slaves" 24.112.193.54 (talk) 20:17, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Unsourced paragraph
[edit]I removed a paragraph for being without citation: "During this time, poverty drove some white families into indentured servitude or debt slavery. William Ellison reportedly acquired white individuals, which was common at the time as many indentured servants and white slaves had been brought to the United States since before it's founding."
