COI edit request: Add information about research and recording work

[edit]

I am the subject of this biography and therefore have a conflict of interest under Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guideline. I am requesting that an uninvolved editor evaluate the following proposed addition if it is supported by the cited independent reliable sources. I believe the work into the composers mentioned below is significant enough to be considered, as many are the only editions available preserving the works in a recorded form.

Proposed addition

[edit]

Consider adding the following paragraph to the “Career” (or another appropriate) section:

Lin has also been active in the research, editing, performance, and recording of neglected composers. He has conducted and produced modern recordings of previously unrecorded or rarely recorded works, including recordings of orchestral music by Alice Mary Smith, Marion Bauer, and Carl Busch.

Suggested sources

[edit]
  • Spotify album of Marion Bauer here:
  • Spotify album of Carl Busch here:
  • Recording project with Alice Mary Smith here:
  • Spotify single of Alice Mary Smith here:
  • Missouri Symphony bio page with additional details into the research:

I have intentionally not made the edit myself because of my conflict of interest. Thank you to any editor willing to review this request.

Red X symbol Declined  The claim is that "Lin has also been active in the research, editing, performance, and recording of neglected composers." Spotify is not an appropriate source for this claim.  Spintendo  04:03, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Would a discography section simply listing the published recordings citing labels and streaming services as primary sources be appropriate? Many of these are the only recordings available of the respective works. If so, I will make a separate request while keeping it strictly a list without interpreting its significance. Correction request: Taiwanese representation statement

[edit]

Requested change: Remove the sentence: "He is the third Taiwanese to lead a symphony orchestra in the United States."

Rationale:

  • The claim appears unsourced or incorrectly sourced.
  • It is difficult to verify and may be inaccurate.
  • Wikipedia policy discourages unsourced or questionable claims in biographies of living persons (WP:BLP).

Thank you to any editor who is willing to review this.

I've taken a look at an archived version of the cited article and it appears to corroborate the claim ("With Lin's appointment, meanwhile, he has become the third Taiwanese to hold that position in an American symphony orchestra, alongside Apo Hsu (許瀞心) and Chen Mei-an (陳美安).") Is there additional cause to question the legitimacy or veracity of the source? Discourses on Livvy (talk · contribs) 13:43, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I believe the journalist at CNA either did not realize Carolyn Kuan, who has held an American music directorship since 2011, is Taiwanese-American or, for some reason, did not consider her background to be fully Taiwanese. In any case, this is difficult to quantify, and I do not believe it is relevant or significant enough to be in the article. I'm spotting this more as a casual Wikipedian rather than just following the article about me. Percus (talk) 04:47, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done Considering your conflict of interest would cut the other way if anything, I think this level of doubt is more than enough to scrap what's ultimately, as you said, a pretty insignificant detail. Discourses on Livvy (talk · contribs) 00:03, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
