Brandywine Junior College
[edit]Phi Mu sorority's Phi Epsilon chapter was placed at Widener, specifically the Chester campus from 1989 to 1998. However, its origination record says that it began decades earlier, specifically at Brandywine Junior College in 1966, as the Beta Xi (Second) chapter of Sigma Iota Chi, a now-dormant sorority that had focused on junior (2-yr) colleges. Apparently, this Brandywine branch was Sigma Iota Chi's last chapter, noted as closing by withdrawal in 1989, at which time it became part of Phi Mu.
The Wikipedia link for Brandywine JC is a redirect to Widener University, but the body text does not explain when this merger or absorption occurred; a note adjacent to the chapter listing on the List of Sigma Iota Chi chapters says that Brandywine (the school or its campus) was "absorbed" in 1991, but the body text does not provide further details. The History section of the Widener article should be improved to note all predecessor schools; often this is written in timeline fashion, with sub-sub-headers for each decade. Our standard stylesheet indicates the predecessor school names should be in bold text, at first mention in the article. I would ask that anyone familiar with this school complete the history section.
