Indigenous peoples referenced
[edit]"The traditional owners of the area are the Ngaro people and the Gia people whose Juru people has the only legally recognised native title in the region"? This is ill put, as the Wikipedia page on the Gia people tells of "the Gia and Juru" people. (If the Juru are a subset of the Gia, then "the Gia people, whose Juru people [or Juru group] have the only... title" would correct the formal grammar.)
The Wikipedia page on the Gia also says that of them little is known. So it would appear. Mucketymuck (talk) 05:13, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
I think it's important to update this to refer as extensively as possible the traditional owners and their history & ownership pre- and post-contact. The Whitsunday tourism page links to this, and the Queensland Parks page too. --Dicaeopolis (talk) 22:06, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

[edit]I've removed some of the red links from this page, as I strongly doubt anyone will ever write a meaningful article on some of the smaller Whitsunday Islands. QazPlm 01:18, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
A reader March 2017. The maps don't give me any clue as to whether the Whitsundays are off Cairns or Townsville or Mackay. Where are they??? Please fix this, someone who cares and knows about doing improvements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.223.73.82 (talk) 08:18, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
