Welsh hook = guisarme?
[edit]Matt Easton of Schola Gladiatora makes a solid argument on his YouTube channel (title: What was the 'Welsh Hook'?) that a Welsh hook and a guisarme are basically the same weapon.
He presents evidence that 'welsh-style' bills were those with a spike projecting out and forwards, which would then have been modified for combat by making both the spike and hook longer and slenderer.
Further, he uses manuscript evidence to place this in context with the English/black bill, Italian bill and Welsh hook forming a spectrum from shorter and heavier (to focus on striking) to longer and lighter (to focus on stabbing and control).
