Confusion between Welbeck (country village) and Welbeck Colliery Village

[edit]

This article was developed gradually by accretion, changing from a town to a village, then alluding to a group of villages around Welbeck, together with Holbeck and Cuckney consistent with the coords.

  • The deadref's Wayback entry confirms it refers to the colliery village
  • Welbeck Colliery Village was officially re-named as Meden Vale (similarly, nearby Warsop became Market Warsop)
  • I've therefore removed the original prose and reference to a mining tradition from 1912 as it is inappropriate for the article as it is now.
  • There is also problem with Wikipedia claiming Ted Alletson to be from Welbeck, deleted from his bio November 2022 (#lawofdiminishingreturns)
