Tag removal request

[edit]

Information to be added or removed: Please remove the tags as I have addressed the issues. I have corrected the tonality of the page making it neutral and corrected the promotional content in the article. I am not connected to Wayne Elsey but this is a paid edit. Thanks!   Please consult assigning editor

  • It is recommended that, as a courtesy, you first try asking the editor who assigned each template — in both cases Bilby — in order to find out from them if they can be removed. Since they placed the templates, they are in the best position to know whether or not the issues which caused their placement have been corrected.[a] You may contact them by placing a new message on their talk page.
  • In the unlikely event that you do not hear back from them after a reasonable amount of time, please reopen this request by altering the {{request edit}} template's answer parameter to read from |ans=yes to |ans=no.[b] Thank you!

Notes

  1. ↑ I hasten to add that in this particular case, random IP's have made various attempts to remove the maintenance templates outright, instead of fixing the problems associated with them. These actions have their own peculiar way of improving the article, in that it causes the article to be more highly scrutinized, which in turn holds the article as more-responsible for fixing these issues.
  2. ↑ The requesting editor is also asked to name which entity is paying them for their requests to change the article (as is required). This may be explained through the use of the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template's |U1-employer= parameter, which remains to be filled out at the top of this talk page.

Hi! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner - I've been having a break over the holidays. :) I originally tagged this as having a COI because it was heavily edited by a paid editor. TP495, as you are also being paid, the COI tag is still relevant, and it will need to be removed by someone who isn't being paid to take it off. As to the neutrality, I don't know the situation with Wayne Elsey. However, two things stood out - the current sourcing is quote poor and often reads more as press releases than the sorts of articles we normally would use, and there appears to be controversy about his departure from Soles4Souls which is only briefly mentioned in the article as it stands, without any detail. - Bilby (talk) 14:30, 29 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit request: accuracy of soles4souls loan sentence

[edit]

Disclosure: I am Wayne Elsey, the subject of this article. Per WP:COI, I am not editing the article directly and am asking uninvolved editors to review the requests below.

1. "ruled illegal under Tennessee law" The current text says the 2009 loans were "ruled illegal under Tennessee law." To my knowledge no court, attorney general, or regulator issued any ruling on these loans, and no charges or legal action were brought against me. "Ruled" implies a formal decision that did not occur. The related article Soles4Souls describes the matter as allegations from a 2011 media investigation.

Proposed replacement: "In 2009, the Soles4Souls board approved loans totaling $900,000 to Elsey from the Changing the World Foundation, a sister charity, which he used to refinance Florida condominiums. A 2011 newspaper investigation reported that such loans were not permitted under Tennessee nonprofit law.[1][2]"

2. "a series of $900,000 loans" This phrasing is ambiguous and can be read as multiple loans of $900,000 each. The sources describe $900,000 in total. The replacement above uses "totaling $900,000."

3. Board approval and response Please add, with attribution: "Elsey said the loans were approved by the board and were intended to protect the organization's assets during the financial crisis, and he disputed the newspaper's reporting.[3]" This source is already cited in the article as ref 23.

Thank you for reviewing. ~2026-53481-42 (talk) 22:06, 4 October 2026 (UTC) ~2026-53481-42 (talk) 22:06, 4 October 2026 (UTC) ~2026-53481-42 (talk) 22:06, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
