Many readers may find this confusing, as I did: this article named "Wayne Carson" is about the songwriter Wayne Carson Thompson. His parents are Thompsons, and the article titled "Wayne Carson Thompson" redirects to "Wayne Carson". Maybe someone familiar with the source material could add a note about why the name change occurred. --Bookerj (talk) 23:46, 19 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
This obituary clarifies it. His surname at birth was Head, but his parents used the name Thompson as professional stage performers. Wayne initially used the name Wayne Carson Thompson, but later dropped the Thompson. At his death, his widow was still using his real surname, Head. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:51, 20 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
It seems that the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame is simply wrong. Some obituaries like this one now give his date of birth as May 31, 1943, and that date is confirmed by official primary sources (). Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:41, 20 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
