• Oppose While "watchman" and "watchtower" is still used in common parlance, "watchdog" seems to me to have been co-opted to refer to the type of organization. I've rarely heard anyone refer to a guard dog as a "watchdog" in common parlance. So I'd have to ask for proof that it is the primary meaning with respect to modern usage. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 21:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
