Talk:Wallace Chafe

Please help expand this article given Chafe's importance to the field of Linguistics

I ask my fellow editors to help me add some meaningful detail on the depth and breadth of Chafe's career. I studied under him, so I have to be careful what I add. To read this very brief article, you would think he barely had any impact at all on the field, when in fact, he is one of the most influential innovators of linguistic theory. Possible death - do not add in until properly sourced

An anonymous editor added in that Chafe passed away on February 3, 2019. while this is entirely likely, given his age, I spent a couple of hours trying to find a Reliable Source to no avail. I even contacted UCSB. I am a former student of Chafe's and I am emailing several people who WOULD know and also emailing UCSB to ask them to post an official notice since he is a retired Professor and a Professor Emeritus there. Please be patient. We do not declare people of his stature to be dead without proof. If you know/knew him personally and wish to give me info, leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Dr. Chafe's death has been officially confirmed

Wallace Chafe's death has been confirmed to me in emnails and in a link here Wallace Chafe, to an official Obit prepared by UCSB, where he was a Professor Emeritus. There is a lot of great information in this document that can be used to improve his article. Help me with that please. Thanks LiPollis (talk) 08:15, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
