Layout

Thoth as the Gorilla God?

Ultimate Wakanda

Merging Villain pages?
[edit]I noticed some of Black Panther's villains that got individual pages aren't really very noticable. Venomm, Madam Slay and Windeagle for example all had just a handful of appearances. Maybe they should be merged into this article?IchiGhost (talk) 19:10, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]This is speculation, but it seems to me there is a connection to Rwanda and Uganda, and Kirby perhaps inuiting (correctly or not) an African equivalent of -stan. There is a Proto-Bantu language" root *-ganda, meaning roughly "social group" . I'm not saying this should go in the article, but something to consider if someone can research the lingusitics more.--Pharos (talk) 21:08, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- Given its location (between or even overlapping those two nations), I also always thought that, but never came across a source. - "Waganda" is also the plural form for members of Uganda's ethnic main group, and this has gotten some attention in the Ugandan press lately. - I think we have a good source for the etymology of Uganda ; kanda (lineage), already mentioned in the article, is clearly from the same root as well. Most sources seem to derive Rwanda from the verb kwanda, though not sure if that is the only interpretation.--Pharos (talk) 15:11, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Wakanda, officially known as the Kingdom of Wakanda, is a small nation in North East Africa. For centuries they have remained in isolation and are now considered the most technologically advanced nation of the planet. Birnin Zana is the capital and largest city.

Name used in TV show in 1966
[edit]The US television show Daktari featured a fictional African tribe called Wakanda in Episode 2, Season 1, that aired in 1966.

Xhosa language
[edit]Hello! I’m a new user on Wikipedia and hope to clear something up, I don’t believe that the official language of Wakanda is “Wakandan”, it’s said by the directors, the actors and even the subtitles specifically say “(speaking Xhosa)”. If anyone would like to discuss this please do.

Wakanda Location.
[edit]I beg to differ when they say the fictional country Wakanda is located in Eastern part of Africa. The people from Wakanda speak Xhosa language and you only find Xhosa speaking people in the Southern part of Africa. - Wakanda is not in the real world, the actor who played King T'Chaka, John Kani is South African, so they decided to put them speaking Xhosa, Wakanda is formed by several tribes and worships Egyptian gods, it is not accurate, it is fiction.Hyju (talk) 17:29, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Everything created has the spirit of Wakonda within it, from trees, plants, and the sky to animals and human beings. The First occurrence of the mythical country of Wakanda
[edit]The Man-Eater was serialized in The New York Evening World in November 1915. It did not appear in standalone book form during the author's lifetime. Its first limited-run book edition was issued by Fantasy Press in 1955, followed by its first widely distributed hardcover release in 1957.
