Milldale merge

Milldale is a housing subdivsion rather than a legally recognised settlement and doesn't qualify for NPLACE. Reliable sources do not refer to it as a distinct suburb of Auckland but rather as an area within Wainui. 'Milldale' is not recognised by the New Zealand Geographic Board and Auckland Council's mapping service lists the area as 'Upper Orewa', although I don't see any other sourcing to support it being within Orewa.
- 'A large house fire in the Auckland suburb of Wainui has been extinguished. Nine crews battled the blaze in Milldale, Wainui...'
- 'In October 2018, NIFF facilitated the provision of $48.9m for transport and waterinfrastructure enabling ~4,000 houses in the Milldale development in Wainui...'
Outside of Wikipedia it isn't referred to being separate from Wainui outside of some real estate/developer press releases. Traumnovelle (talk) 05:48, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The suburb is delineated as a separate unit of demographic analysis in the New Zealand census.[1] It is also the main subject of analysis in several reliable sources;
- Orsman 2025 is one detailed example of such coverage.
- Milldale has a higher population than Wainui in the statistics, so it would be quite difficult to say that Milldale is a part of Wainui. Perhaps "Wainui" is being used in two different senses here, but the "Wainui" on the article here Wainui definitely does not contain Milldale, New Zealand within it. - More sources refer to it as a part of Wainui than as a suburb, the source you provided (also that archive link constitutes a copyright violation, please don't use archive links to bypass paywalls) doesn't state that Milldale isn't part of Wainui nor does it contradict the fact.

- Perhaps our article is wrong? If we have reliable sources that all say something why would we disregard them because our article doesn't support it? That means we should fix our article, not ignore the sources. Traumnovelle (talk) 05:22, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
