720p60 or 720p30?

[edit]

Anyone know if both channels are transmitted in native 720p60 with higher compression, or in 720p30 with less compression, or some combination of the two (maybe varying based on programming)? radiojon (talk) 17:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Need clarification on show reference

[edit]

One part of the page stated that "WGXA picked up Ellen..." Does that really mean The Ellen DeGeneres Show rather than reruns of the defunct sitcom Ellen? Just asking. - Desmond Hobson (talk) 18:43, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Infobox list formatting

[edit]

The Manual of Style says that
-delimited lists are to be avoided because they don't meet Web standards. Per WP:UBLIST, where bullets aren't desirable, either {{PL}} or {{ubl}} may be used; neither is preferred over the other, but either should be used in place of
.

It's true that the {{infobox broadcast}} documentation says to use
, but it appears simply to be out of date—likely written before WP:UBLIST—rather than recommending something contrary to the MOS. (Many other infoboxes recommend {{PL}} or {{ubl}}.[1])

Thanks. Rebbing talk 23:57, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Also, small formating in infoboxes are to be avoided per MOS:FONTSIZE as infoboxes are already reduced sized text. DT2 is not standard and seems to be an assumption of what PSIP Short Name extension would be, when the initial digital subchannel were rolled out. Best to just use .1:, .2:, .3: ,etc. It is easy enough to just allow the history section and the infobox absorb the DTV tables that are prevalent, but are not TVS standard per Article structure. I have tried to discuss an update of the infobox at WP:TVS to no avail. Spshu (talk) 15:44, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Aside from the brief existence of WETV/WNEX-TV/WOKA-TV from 1953 to 1955, Macon had one commercial television station (WMAZ-TV, channel 13) from 1955 to 1968: The dates don't overlap, so the "aside" structure is not correct here.

 • WMAZ was on the air, so this is a misread on your part. Reworded slightly.

 • It seems that they did not join as owners but backed the application in some other way, which is unfortunately unstated by source. That said, you've prompted me to look into the two other guys mentioned. They both have articles, which I never would have expected: Don Elliott Heald and M. B. "Bud" Seretean. I've added information about them up toward the start. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 20:51, 5 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

a company owned by Jason R. Wolff: Seems unnecessary unless Wolff is notable?

The shift of ABC programming from WPGA-TV to the new WGXA-ABC subchannel led to a dispute between Cox Communications, the primary cable provider in Macon, and WPGA-TV over whether WPGA's channel 6 position belonged to WPGA-TV—as that station contended—or could be used for ABC programming—as Cox desired, in order to place the new WGXA subchannel on cable channel 6, and believed it could do under the terms of its contract with Register: Needs to be broken up a bit. It's hard to follow.

 • In this case, no, because I feel like omitting WACH would leave this incomplete.

How does the news currently stand in the ratings?

 • Finding current articles on news ratings will be impossible, because this stuff doesn't get covered anymore. But I can reassure you: WMAZ-TV is a giant, one of the highest-rated small-market network affiliates anywhere in the country. They are probably a very, very distant second.
