The article does not distinguishes clearly between physical methods (like EM, PCR) and biological methods of quantitation. These are quite important as infectivity and virus numbers are very different things. There appears to be a mistake in the conversion: 1 PFU = (-ln(0.5)) x TCID50, i.e. 1 PFU = 0.69 TCID50, and not vice versa as stated in the text.
