No discussion of impossibility of claims

[edit]

Ridiculous to suggest it's impossible to copy data from a VDR. DRM is ineffective. Turkeyphant 17:49, 29 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Clean team" listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Clean team and has thus listed it for discussion. Edit request due to conflict of interest

[edit]
  • What I think should be changed (include citations):== Suggested section ==

Examples of virtual data room providers

Based on my knowledge and experience, virtual data room providers broadly fall into three categories:

Legacy enterprise providers:platforms built for large-scale M&A and institutional transactions, typically with quote-based pricing and enterprise features. Examples include Intralinks,[1] Datasite (formerly Merrill DataSite),[2].

'General file sharing services: cloud storage and file sharing platforms that are sometimes used as lightweight alternatives to dedicated VDRs, typically lacking advanced permission controls, audit trails, and document analytics. Examples include Google Drive[3] and Microsoft OneDrive.[4]

New generation of dataroom” a more recent category of providers offering transparent pricing, document analytics, and open-source infrastructure, primarily targeting startups, fundraising, and m&a transactions. Examples include Papermark.[5]<ref.

Notes on sourcing

[edit]

I am aware that the references above include some primary sources (company websites). For the legacy providers, independent sourcing is widely available and I am happy to provide specific citations from Gartner, G2, or financial press if an editor prefers. For Papermark specifically, I am providing two independent third-party sources: an editorial review from Whatvwant (https://whatvwant.com/virtual-data-room/) and a Hacker News community thread (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37984167).

I’m aware I have a conflict of interest regarding Papermark and defer entirely to editors on whether and how to include it. The broader suggestion, that the article would benefit from an Examples section covering the market, stands independently of any single provider being included.

Happy to adjust the wording, add or remove providers, or provide additional citations. Thank you for considering this.

  • Why it should be changed:

Hello, I’m Milica and I work for Papermark, a virtual data room provider, and I am disclosing this conflict of interest per WP:COI and WP:PAID. I am not editing the article directly.

The article currently describes what virtual data rooms are and how they work, but does not include any concrete examples of providers. I think this is a gap that readers looking to understand the VDR landscape have no reference points. I'd like to suggest adding a brief Examples section that covers the main market segments and tools as examples.

Papermark (talk) 13:03, 4 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Milica, and thank you for your suggested edit. I am declining your edit request because I have significant concerns about the quality of the sources you cited. Whatvwant appears to be a self-published source with no indication of editorial control; indeed, the review you cited is rife with poorly written sentences, e.g. "The support team of Intralinks is real, and well qualified real human beings" and spelling errors, e.g. How to acceps/reject [sic] all friend requests at once on Facebook.[6] Similarly, a forum thread is definitely not a reliable source. Moreover, mentioning Papermark in this article could be seen as a form of product placement. Wikipedia allows articles about general topics to mention specific product examples on a case-by-case basis, but usually, it's only if the product is historically or commercially significant. Here, the sources you identified have not shown that Papermark is notable. For those reasons, I am declining this edit request. Best, Altamel (talk) 23:52, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
