Virk is a Khatri clan and a Jat Clan found in Punjab. This clan has been added to the list of gotras. It is simply needed to clean this article. burdak 06:38, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Unique Physical Attributes

[edit]

is meant by the following sentence in the article: "Historically , the Virks had unique physical attributes"?

The article does go on to say that "they have been described as tall, muscular, courageous and loyal." John Hill 22:45, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Virk Khatri

[edit]

Virk (Birk/Wirk) is an Khatri surname of Punjabi Sikh community. Virk Khatri (talk) 09:30, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Need reliable scholarly sources for it. See WP:RS. Wikis, bloglike sources and news sources will not be applicable. I've removed your addition of wiki like source. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:41, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Virk Khatri: Stop edit warring. Bring WP:RS source here in the talk page which says Virk is also a Khatri surname. It is basic WP:BRD policy. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:22, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@@103.164.205.37:. I've clearly explained in my last edit summaries that the source URL () that I've updated is the same version as the one before. This time the page number and quote is clearly visible, and the quote only talks about the surname Virk used by India (Panjad) and Sikh. Do not change it. If you have reliable sources mentioning that the surname is used by Muslims and Hindus, bring it here for discussion instead of edit warring. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:26, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also since I've used the phrase Sikhs in Punjab, India, per the available source, the possibility of non-Sikhs using the surname is open to interpretation. That is, not restricted. We would only need reliable sources for that. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:38, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Virks are also in Pakistan (founded Virkgarh)

[edit]

Please add this to the top paragraph: Virks are also found in Pakistani Punjab. They were prominent in Virkgarh (modern Sheikhupura), and continue to live there today.[1][2]
