Viola Allen/date of birth

[edit]

There seems to be this ongoing discrepancy of her birth year, 1867 or 1869. Daniel Blum's 1952 "Great Stars of the American Stage" claims October 27 1869, and he seems to have interviewed many of the legendary stars in that book including Ms. Allen who had passed away just four years before Blum's book was published. On the other hand Edward T. James 1971 "Notable American Women, 1607-1950" on page 38 claims October 27 1867 as Viola's true date of birth. This is also on her grave marker. I'll leave the 1867 date for now, as we keep flopping back and forth between the two dates. Certainly some sort of document or Census record exists to put this matter to rest. I would say that the fact that the earlier year is on her gravestone indicates that 1867 is the true YOB. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 00:05, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, and I would very belatedly suggest that the least reliable source for an actress's true age is the actress herself (or an unfiltered interview of her). -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:13, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
