Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Vinod Chaubey was an Indian Police Service officer who lost his life in the fierce Rajnandgaon ambush on 12th July 2009 at the Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh state in India. He is the only Indian Police Service officer to have lost his life in naxal insurgence in the state of Chhattisgarh and the only police officer to have won The Kirti Chakra in the state. The Rajnandgaon ambush became a turning point in the fight of the state of Chhattisgarh with the naxal insurgency and Vinod Chaubey's death played the most important part in launch of Operation Green Hunt against the naxalite rebels as it was the first time in the history of the insurgency that such a high ranking official lost his life in a direct encounter with the rebels. Chaubey's death marked the start of an aggressive counter offensive campaign by the state against the naxalites. Only a few Indian police service officers have won gallantry awards of the Ashoka chakra series such as Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar and Ashok Kamte. The rajnandgaon ambush of chhattisgarh echoed deep sentimental reaction from the entire state as a result of which a statewide blocade was called for by the opposition. Vinod Chaubey's efforts of unearthing a naxal urban network was the biggest success Chhattisgarh Police has achieved in terms of espionage and intelligence till date and is a model for young recruits. Chaubey's death is as important to the state of chhattisgarh as the death of Hemant Karkare and his colleagues in the 2008 Mumbai attacksthus it is of paramount that such an article on the most important figure in the history of naxal insurgency in the state of Chhattisgarh and India not be speedily deleted. 122.168.222.80 (talk) 00:25, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
