... that Vine-Glo sold during Prohibition carried a warning telling people how to make wine from it and Al Capone(pictured) allegedly threatened to force it out of Chicago? Source: Grape Collective, A History of Wine in America. 2. University of California Press. pp. 29–30. ISBN0520241762.
New enough, long enough, interesting, image in public domain and clear, copyvio due to one quote, hook in article and followed by 2 inline citations of which one needs subscription. I can see the information in the book on history of wine making which is cited following hook fact in article. QPQ provided. Al-Capone's article was interesting to read too. For either 1417 January or 25 January (Al Capone's birth/death dates) seems ok with me. Thank you. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:14, 21 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
It’s been changed, but it’s still not clear. What do you mean by a “dry community”? A town or urban area? A section of society (regardless of geography)? You need to clarify what you mean by this. 213.205.194.172 (talk) 11:09, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Looking for sources closer to the time a couple of papers cite the quotation (some calling it a "warning" without saying whether it was printed) to Binkley's 1930 book Responsible Drinking, but I'm not seeing it there, only a mention of the Department of Agriculture giving what Binkley sees as "disguised instruction in wine making" by describing how to prevent fermentation.
I've found and added a quote of Vine-Glo newspaper ad that included a tip "to prevent fermentation", and reframed the "because then it would turn into wine" as a salesperson quote, citing that Chicago Packer article. --Belbury (talk) 21:16, 1 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
