Safer?

[edit]

I have removed the following:

It is better tolerated and does not show as many side effects as sodium valproate. In particular, it is less likely to cause liver damage or cause birth defects when used by pregnant women.

since there were no references and indeed all the sources I examined gave the opposite impression. If it was so much better than sodium valproate, why is it not more widely used? --Colin 23:02, 31 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

agree,

[edit]

I removed the following:

"...via an intermediate acid chloride (such as HCl)". because its a nonsense, hydrogen chloride has nothing to do with it, it can not even convert the valproic acid to its chloride.

I also changed following:

"It produces more stable plasma levels than valproic acid or sodium valproate and may be more effectively at preventing febrile seizures." to

"It may produce more stable plasma levels than valproic acid or sodium valproate and may be more effectively at preventing febrile seizures."

since with the ER and XR formulations of sodium valproate and divalproex sodium this is more likely to be the case.--84.163.108.243 21:42, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
